2012 is 1775 at Fort Ticonderoga!

1775 was a critical year for Fort Ticonderoga.  On May 10th Ethan Allen, Benedict Arnold and the Green Mountain Boys captured the Fort in a daring early morning raid achieving America's first significant victory of the Revolution.  In doing so Ticonderoga provided the American army with a critical foothold on Lake Champlain and an abundance of cannon and artillery stores.  During the summer, Connecticut soldiers garrisoned the Fort and began the process of repairing its then 20-year old fortifications.  In the following winter, Colonel Henry Knox led an expedition to transport 59 of Ticonderoga's cannon over water and overland to Boston to dislodge the British army from that city in the spring of 1776.  Visit Ticonderoga this season and experience the Fort's epic history through our many engaging interpretive programs and special living history events.
