The Campaign Of 1774
Fort Ticonderoga is the only site in the world that tells a new story each year through dynamic interpretation and exhibitions, bringing to life its epic place in history as the Key to the Continent in the 18th century. Every day is an event at Fort Ticonderoga, and every year is a new experience. In 2020, visitors will be treated to an in-depth exploration of 1774 during the peacetime garrison life in British North America.
A collection of immersive programs, hands-on demonstrations, and guided tours have been curated to highlight the historical significance of the important events of 1774 within the natural beauty of Fort Ticonderoga. Visitors are encouraged to personalize their experience by taking advantage of the daily itinerary, outdoor recreation, and family activities on both land and water across the 2000 acres.
Fort Ticonderoga’s celebration of the campaign of 1774 is featured throughout all on-site activities, including:
- Guided expert tours of scenic grounds and key buildings. Different topics are featured, such as Ticonderoga’s incredible history of iconic battles, the beautifully landscaped grounds of the King’s Garden node, and the large military artifact collection at Fort Ticonderoga Museum.
- Demonstrations of historic trades, weaponry, and daily life activities. Watch and learn how British soldiers lived every day. Domestic tasks range from tailoring to shoemaking to carpentry and beyond, and weaponry training and maintenance includes muskets, cannons, and more.
- Special events like boat cruises and sightseeing tours. Enjoy breathtaking views and epic stories atop Mount Defiance while exploring its unique tactical role in the campaign of 1774. For a slight upcharge, take a narrated boat tour aboard the Carillon while sailing the shores of Lake Champlain.
Visitors are encouraged to personalize their experience by taking advantage of the daily itinerary, outdoor recreation, and family activities on both land and water across the 2000 acres.
