What's more exciting than building a fort? How about exploring one!? Fort Ticonderoga is filled with adventure as you and your family step into a moment in time. Each year our talented team brings to life a specific year and historic story that is sure to delight and engage your entire family. Step into our trades shop and try your hand at tailoring or shoemaking! Take a Family Guided Tour and be sure to be thrilled by our cannon and musket firing demonstrations offered each day. Participate in our Gunner’s Apprentice program for an immersive and hands-on experience of history trades and soldiers’ lives. No visit to Fort Ticonderoga is complete without a family photo with our epic cannon!
Fort Ticonderoga's historic landscape includes 2000 acres, so there is plenty of space to run, climb, and explore. Visit the King's Garden and roll up your sleeves into fun garden activities that will engage your senses. The Heroic Corn Maze: A Corn Maze Adventure is a 6-acre life-size puzzle cut out in the shape of the fort and the design changes each year, making it a great annual family tradition. Conquer the Heroic Maze mid August through October. Hiking is a great part of your family's Fort Ticonderoga experience. If water exploration is more your speed, take a 90-minute guided tour aboard our tour boat, Carillon. Be sure to finish your Fort Ticonderoga adventure with a visit to Mount Defiance where you can have a birds-eye view of the majestic and historic region. Pack a picnic lunch from America's Fort Cafe to bring up to Mount Defiance and enjoy it in the picnic shelter located at the top of the mountain.*Added fees may apply to some of these activities.
America's Fort Cafe, a family friendly dining experience, is located in the Log House Welcome Center. Enjoy delicious sandwiches, fresh salads, burgers and fries, as well as home-made desserts and ice cream that will delight your family. Play a game of Shut-the-Box while you enjoy lunch with majestic views of Lake Champlain and the beautiful surrounding Adirondack and Green Mountains. Be sure to visit the Museum Store also located in the Log House to bring home your own game of Shut-the-Box or other Fort Ticonderoga favorites such as wood muskets and other souvenirs for the whole family!
- Picnic tables are located near the Log House Welcome Center, King's Garden, and on Mount Defiance.
- Bathrooms are located in the Log House Welcome Center and the Mars Education Center.
- Vending machines are located outside of the Log House Welcome Center and bottled water can be purchased at America's Fort Cafe as well as the Museum Store.
- Does your family include a dog? Fort Ticonderoga welcomes dogs onto our property, however, they must remain leashed and attended to at all times. Only services animals are allowed in the buildings and the King's Garden. Please don't forget to clean up after your four-legged friend!
